Environmental protection

Environmental protection issues are at the core of OLPP concern. Within the framework of its statutory activities, OLPP complies with strict standards and rules for environmental protection, and undertakes environmentally friendly initiatives.

Environmental protection is a part of OLPP's mission. With the application of good environmental protection practices, the negative impact of fuel storage facilities on the environment has been almost entirely eliminated. OLPP has deployed systems that limit petrol vapour emissions to the atmosphere as well as protections that prevent petroleum products from entering the ground as well as surface and underground waters.

Fill & drain facilities for fuel transportation by road and rail have been upgraded as well. All processes at the fuel storage facilities are air-tight. The systems are fully automatic: the recovered products are returned to storage containers.

OLPP activities comply with pro-environmental guidelines defined in Pro-environmental State Policy for 2009-2012 with a perspective to 2016 (Environmental Protection Law). Section 1 reads as follows: "The planned environmental protection activities in Poland are a part of EU priorities and the goals of the Sixth Community Environment Action Programme".
